Achievements of science

     

At first man was little better than an animal. As reason developed in him, he began to make discoveries and inventions to make life more and more comfortable. It is science that is at the root of this progress. The present age is the age of science. Science has influenced every walk of life .Science has provided us with swift means of communication. In villages, there were only bullock carts and boats. Now the villagers have steam ships. Motor cars,aeroplanes etc.These have enabled us to travel even to the farthest end of the world within a very short period. By the steamship man has acquired complete mastery over the wild oceans. In the aero plane, he can fly like birds.

Science has given us the printed book which is our main source of knowledge.

 Electricity is another wonder of science. It has turned night into day. In the winter it heats our rooms and in the summer it cools them.

Still more wonderful is the invention of the wireless. It is now possible to talk a person at a distance of thousands of kilometers. The telegraph, the telephone, the radio and TV etc. Through the radio we can enjoy songs, dialogues, stories, etc. Through the television we can also see the face of the singer or the speaker. The latest addition in this list is computer. It has changed the world.

Science has also greatly helped the improvement of health. There is now a cure for all most all kinds of diseases. Vaccines check the spread of infections as cholera, smallpox, etc. penicillin and streptomycin have proved to be a boon for humanity. Modern surgery also has been doing wonders in the surgical field.

Scientists have succeeded in sending up artificial satellites and have already landed on the Moon .It is now hoped that man would soon be able to reach other planets also.

All these are wonders of science and we do not know what further wonders will be achieved by it in future. We should use science only for the good of mankind.
